President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the integration of Hirimaradhoo and Hanimaadhoo will be completed within 18 months, with all necessary resources and infrastructure being made available to support the initiative.

Speaking during an official visit to Hirimaradhoo as part of his ongoing tour of the northern atolls, the President emphasized that the integration plan is aligned with the aspirations of Hirimaradhoo residents who wish to benefit from the large-scale urban development underway in Hanimaadhoo. He affirmed that the process would not involve forced relocation but instead aims to ensure inclusive and equitable development for the region.

The integration plan, jointly formulated by the President’s Office and the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), seeks to provide Hirimaradhoo residents with access to essential public services, infrastructure, and economic opportunities in Hanimaadhoo. As part of the initiative, 154 land plots will be allocated to residents of Hirimaradhoo, with further allocations under consideration based on community needs.

President Muizzu reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that no community is left behind in the nation’s development efforts, particularly in emerging regional hubs such as Hanimaadhoo. He also assured that the integration of the two islands will be carried out thoughtfully, with the objective of promoting social cohesion, economic inclusion, and enhanced quality of life for all residents.
