The Government of the Maldives has issued a strong condemnation of Israel’s intensifying military aggression in Gaza, labelling the continued assault as genocidal and calling for urgent international intervention.
In a statement released today, the Maldives expressed deep alarm over the rising civilian death toll in Gaza as Israeli forces increase their airstrikes. The government criticized the indiscriminate violence and emphasized that the targeting of innocent civilians is a grave violation of international human rights and humanitarian law.
“The Government of Maldives strongly condemns the continued genocidal aggression carried out by Israeli forces against innocent civilians in Gaza,” the statement read. “The Maldives calls on the international community to take immediate action to hold Israel accountable for its repeated violations of international law.”
Reaffirming its firm support for the Palestinian cause, the Maldives reiterated its longstanding call for the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
As the humanitarian crisis deepens, the Maldives joins a growing chorus of nations urging the global community to act swiftly to stop the violence and deliver justice to the Palestinian people.
The statement underscores the Maldives' consistent diplomatic stance in support of Palestine and its commitment to advocating for peace, justice, and human dignity in the region.
