President Reaffirms Commitment to Ending TB on World Tuberculosis Day

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has shared a message on the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day, emphasizing the Maldives' commitment to eradicating tuberculosis (TB) and strengthening national healthcare efforts.
In his statement, the President highlighted this year’s theme, "Yes! We Can End TB: Commit, Invest, Deliver," and underscored the importance of greater dedication at all levels to combat the disease. He noted that the Maldives is among the five nations globally that have successfully met the targets of 70% case detection and 85% cure rates since 1998.
President Muizzu further announced enhanced efforts in TB prevention and treatment, including:
- Free Tuberculosis Preventive Treatment (TPT) for latent TB cases.
- Integration of TB prevention, screening, diagnosis, and treatment into the primary healthcare model to ensure accessible and effective care for all.
The President reiterated the Maldives' dedication to global collaboration in the fight against TB, urging collective action to build a healthier, TB-free future.
He also marked the occasion with a post on his official X (Twitter) account earlier today.
