Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef has reaffirmed the Government's unwavering commitment to completing projects initiated by any administration, ensuring continuity and progress across the nation. Speaking at the inauguration of the newly developed football ground in AA. Ukulhas, the Vice President emphasized the importance of fulfilling promises and advancing sports infrastructure for the benefit of youth.
In his remarks, he described the Ukulhas football field as a model project that showcases the Government’s dedication to developing sports facilities nationwide. Stressing the vital role of youth as the nation’s strength, the Vice President assured ongoing support for their aspirations and contributions.
Highlighting the importance of energy and dynamism for national progress, he stated that the Government is committed to addressing the concerns of young people through active engagement and meaningful initiatives.
The inauguration ceremony featured the Vice President cutting the ribbon at the field’s entrance and signing the ceremonial ball used in the opening match. He later enjoyed a friendly match between the Maldives Legends Team—comprising former national players—and the Ukulhas Football Team, which ended in a 2-0 victory for the Maldives Legends.
Also present at the event were Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu and Ukulhas Island Council President Shaukath Ibrahim, both of whom echoed the commitment to reviving football and advancing the sports sector in the Maldives.
This initiative reflects the Government’s broader efforts to inspire youth and foster national development through sports and recreation.
