Consultancy Agreement Signed for Disaster Resilience Enhancement in Malé Island

The Minister of State for Construction and Infrastructure, Ibrahim Thoaam Mohamed, signed a consultancy agreement on 3rd December 2024 for the Project for Disaster Resilience Enhancement in Malé Island.
The initiative focuses on upgrading coastal defenses in Malé City to mitigate disaster risks and enhance resilience.
This agreement builds upon the Exchange of Notes signed between the Governments of Maldives and Japan on 19th September 2024. The consultancy phase will develop detailed designs for the project, with completion targeted by the first quarter of 2025.
The project underscores the commitment of both nations to addressing vulnerabilities in coastal infrastructure and strengthening disaster preparedness in the Maldives.
