Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer Meets Saudi Central Bank Governor

Maldives Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer held a meeting with H.E. Ayman Al-Sayari, Governor of the Central Bank of Saudi Arabia, in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The discussions centered on the Maldives' economic situation, the rapid growth of its tourism sector, and potential investment opportunities in the island nation.

Minister Zameer provided an in-depth briefing on the Maldives' economic landscape, highlighting the significant strides made in the tourism sector, which remains the backbone of the country's economy. He emphasized the vast potential for Saudi investment in the Maldives, particularly in areas such as tourism infrastructure, renewable energy, and financial services.

This meeting is part of Minister Zameer’s broader agenda during his official visit to Saudi Arabia, which is taking place from August 18th to 22nd at the invitation of Saudi Arabia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud. Earlier, Minister Zameer met with Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud, where he delivered a letter from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu addressed to His Royal Highness Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Minister Zameer is accompanied on this visit by a high-level delegation, including Ambassador-at-Large Ahmed Naseer, Managing Director of Maldives Airports Company Limited Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, Joint Secretary Badoora Saeed, and Director General Aishath Fareena.

The ongoing visit underscores the strong bilateral relations between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia, with both nations exploring new avenues of cooperation in economic and financial sectors, further solidifying their long-standing partnership.
