Resort League: Seven-Star Finolhu Storm to Baa Zone Glory

Finolhu, a Seaside Collection Resort, lifted the Resort League 2026 Baa Zone title in emphatic fashion after thrashing Vakkaru 7-1 in the championship final held at AVANI.

It is Finolhu's second Baa Zone championship, capping off another outstanding campaign with a dominant performance in the final.

Finolhu booked their place in the final after edging hosts AVANI 2-1 in the first semi-final, while Vakkaru secured their spot by defeating Anantara Kihavah 2-1 in the second semi-final.

The champions made a dream start to the final, scoring twice within the opening two minutes to put Vakkaru under immediate pressure. Finolhu continued to dominate throughout the first half and went into the break with a comfortable 3-1 lead.

Vakkaru's only goal came in the first half through Hassan Naail Dawood, but it proved to be only a consolation as Finolhu completely controlled the remainder of the contest.

The second half belonged entirely to the champions, who added four more goals to complete a stunning 7-1 victory.

Ibrahim Naafiz, Ali Shaheed, and Hassan Shaam each scored twice, while Ibrahim Aflaah added the other goal to complete Finolhu's seven-goal haul.

After another outstanding display, Hassan Shaam was named Man of the Match.

The Resort League 2026 Baa Zone featured eight teams divided into two groups. The top two teams from each group progressed to the semi-finals before Finolhu completed a memorable campaign by lifting the championship trophy for the second time.

With an unbeaten run, a seven-goal performance in the final, and several individual honours, Finolhu once again proved themselves to be the dominant force in Baa Zone Futsal.
