Kudahuvadhoo Police Destroy Large Quantity of Seized Alcohol and Beer

The Maldives Police Service has disposed of a significant quantity of alcoholic beverages that were held in the custody of the Dh. Kudahuvadhoo Police Station. The disposal operation involved the destruction of 131 bottles of liquor and 195 cans of beer. The contraband items had been accumulated over an extended period from various enforcement interventions and routine security screenings within the atoll.

According to authorities, the entire batch of confiscated beverages was destroyed yesterday. Police clarified that the alcohol was collected between 2023 and the current year after being seized from departing tourists at Dhaalu Airport. The items were initially confiscated by Aviation Security Command personnel during routine baggage checks at the terminal before being formally handed over to the police for storage and eventual disposal.

The destruction process was carried out in strict accordance with the established state regulations governing the disposal of alcohol and items confiscated in connection with alcohol-related offenses. To ensure full compliance with legal protocols, the operation was executed under the direct supervision of a specially appointed oversight committee. This committee is tasked with verifying the inventory and documenting the destruction of such contraband.

Alcohol offenses and contraband management remain a key focus for regional police stations across tourist-heavy atolls. The Maldives Police Service noted that routine disposals are necessary to manage storage limitations within local stations and ensure that confiscated goods are cleared transparently. Authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining strict enforcement of the country's strict alcohol control laws at all transit points.
