Denmark Sends Troops to Greenland Following Trump’s Threats

Denmark has deployed additional troops to Greenland in response to former US President Donald Trump’s threats to take control of the self-governing Arctic territory.
According to Danish media, 58 soldiers arrived in Kangerlussuaq on Monday evening, joining around 60 troops previously sent for Operation Arctic Endurance, a multinational military exercise. The reinforcements reflect Denmark’s commitment to safeguarding Greenland’s security amid escalating tensions.
Trump had recently declined to rule out using military force to acquire Greenland, a mineral-rich territory he considers strategically vital to the United States. His remarks followed a message to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, in which Trump indicated he no longer felt constrained by peace considerations.
Denmark has emphasized that Greenland is not for sale and warned that any attempt to seize the territory by force would jeopardize NATO, straining US-European relations to historic lows.
The deployment underscores Denmark’s determination to protect Greenland while maintaining the territory’s strategic importance in Arctic defense and international security.
