Lando Norris Claims First Monaco GP Victory, Narrows Championship Gap

Lando Norris secured a memorable first Monaco Grand Prix win from pole position, reducing McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri’s Formula One drivers’ championship lead to just three points. The race, characterized more by strategic play than overtaking, saw the top four finishers — Norris, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, Piastri, and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen — all maintaining their starting positions.
The event featured two mandatory pit stops for the first time, but the tight Monaco circuit limited on-track action. Verstappen delayed his final stop until the penultimate lap, while others carefully managed their pace to avoid incidents. Norris dominated, lapping all but four competitors.
This marked Norris’ second win of the season and McLaren’s first triumph at Monaco since 2008. Over the radio, Norris exclaimed, “Monaco baby!” celebrating the achievement that fulfilled a childhood dream.
Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton finished fifth, with Racing Bulls’ Isack Hadjar sixth, Haas’s Esteban Ocon seventh, Liam Lawson scoring his first points in eighth, and Williams’ Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz rounding out the top 10.
