Trent Alexander-Arnold has confirmed that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season when his contract expires, ending a remarkable 20-year association with the club. The England defender, who was part of the squad that secured Liverpool’s Premier League title this season, described the decision as the "hardest" of his life.

The 26-year-old, widely linked with a potential free transfer to Real Madrid, made the announcement on X, explaining that he had kept the news private to focus on securing Liverpool’s 20th league title.

"After 20 years at Liverpool Football Club, now is the time for me to confirm that I will be leaving at the end of the season," said Alexander-Arnold. "This is easily the hardest decision I've ever made in my life."

Reflecting on his time at the club, he expressed immense gratitude for the support he has received from fans, players, and staff alike. "This club has been my whole life – my whole world – for 20 years. The support and love I have felt from everyone inside and outside of the club will stay with me forever."

Since making his senior debut in 2016, Alexander-Arnold has made 352 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 23 goals, and lifting eight major honours, including the Premier League and Champions League titles.

In response to the announcement, Liverpool FC praised the defender’s contribution, stating, "Alexander-Arnold will depart with our gratitude and appreciation for his contribution during a sustained period of success."
