Visit Maldives and Singapore Airlines Host Familiarisation Trip for Chinese Media and KOLs

The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/ Visit Maldives), in collaboration with Singapore Airlines, recently hosted a familiarisation trip for Chinese media representatives and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) from February 18th to 23rd, 2025. The initiative provided participants with an immersive experience of the Maldives’ renowned luxury at Pullman Maldives Maamutaa and The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives.

As the first familiarisation trip of the year targeting the Chinese market, this initiative is part of MMPRC’s ongoing efforts to position the Maldives as a leading luxury destination. The trip showcased the country’s unique offerings, from pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters to high-end hospitality, allowing media representatives and KOLs to share their experiences with a wider audience. By offering firsthand exposure to the Maldives’ distinctive attractions, the campaign aimed to generate greater interest and inspire more Chinese travellers to choose the Maldives for their next holiday.

The Chinese market remains a key focus for Visit Maldives, with 56,150 tourist arrivals from China recorded as of February 23rd, 2025. To celebrate Chinese New Year, Visit Maldives launched several targeted marketing initiatives, including a special social media campaign, a digital campaign in collaboration with Qunar, a dedicated webinar, and various PR activities to boost destination visibility.

To further strengthen the Maldives’ appeal in the Chinese market, Visit Maldives continues to implement strategic marketing initiatives. These efforts include targeted promotional campaigns that highlight the Maldives’ unparalleled travel experiences, familiarisation trips to engage media and travel professionals, and joint promotions with leading travel partners. Additionally, Visit Maldives is expanding its presence by participating in key industry events, organizing roadshows in China, and enhancing digital campaigns with engaging video content to attract more travellers.

By continuously expanding its marketing strategies and partnerships, the Maldives aims to maintain its position as a top choice for travellers seeking luxury, adventure, and natural beauty.
