Air Arabia to Launch Non-Stop Flights from Sharjah to Maldives

Sharjah, July 22, 2024 – Air Arabia, the Sharjah-based low-cost carrier, has announced the introduction of daily non-stop flights between Sharjah International Airport and Velana International Airport in the Maldives, starting October this year. This new route aims to provide travellers with convenient and affordable options to explore one of the most sought-after destinations in the Indian Ocean.
Adel Al Ali, Group CEO of Air Arabia, emphasized the significance of this new route, stating, "The launch of our non-stop flights to the Maldives underscores our commitment to expanding travel options for our customers and connecting them to some of the world's most breathtaking locations."
He further added, "This addition to our route network from Sharjah reaffirms our dedication to offering seamless connectivity and value-driven air travel to our passengers."
Air Arabia operates a fleet of Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, known for their efficiency and comfort on short to medium-haul routes.
This announcement comes shortly after Air Arabia unveiled plans to commence flights between Sharjah and Vienna, Austria, beginning December 20. The new service will operate four non-stop weekly flights, timed to cater to the winter holiday traffic.
With operations from six hubs, including Sharjah International Airport and Abu Dhabi's Zayed International Airport, Air Arabia reported impressive Q1 revenues of Dh6 billion and a net profit exceeding Dh1.54 billion.
