Upon arrival at the MCS headquarters located within the Hulhumalé Prison compound, the President was received by the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan and the Commissioner of Prisons Hussain Zareer. As part of the welcoming ceremony, the President was accorded an honour guard.
The inauguration featured the ceremonial hoisting of both the national flag of the Maldives and the flag of the Maldives Correctional Service, followed by the official opening of the new headquarters through the remote unveiling of the name plaque.
This marks the establishment of the first purpose built MCS headquarters on its own dedicated plot of land. The two storey facility spans 12,000 square feet. During his visit, the President signed the visitors book and toured the premises.
Completed within 16 months, the new headquarters will accommodate 15 departments and divisions, supporting a workforce of 175 staff members.
