Gaafu Online is a online newspaper registered under Maldivian Laws and Regulation. The newspaper Gaafu Online was registered at the Ministry of Home Affairs on 12 July 2021 and operates as an Online Web-based Platform.

The title of the newspaper “Gaafu” is defined in Dhivehi language as a historical name for Huvadhu Atoll and "Gaafu" is one of the thaana letter in thaana/ Dhivehi Language.

The newspaper strives to facilitate the full potential of the Freedom of Expression guaranteed under all the rights and principles enshrined in the Constitution of Maldives – with balance, proficiency and free of influence
